Haha about On. Coming from Europe, it is SO confusing how they're positioned as a high quality COOL brand in the USA. They're casual shoes that uncool dads pair with supermarket jeans!
I actually have the same issue with Salomon. In the 80s and 90s Salomon shoes could be found in every small town department store and were bought by people who wanted to look active. Often paired with the German brand Jack Wolfskin, which is very high on my „I will not buy this brand ever!“ list. I do know that Salomon makes great stuff, but in my brain the brand still has these vibes from way back. I think that was the time when Salomon was owned by adidas.
