Heya, welcome back to Five Things Running!
Last week I finally managed to run more than 50 km and it started out with two nice runs in the sun in Munich. I’m really fond of this city with great running routes along the River Isar. Highly recommended!
I felt so good last week, I even went swimming. I know it’s good for me and my body, but it is such a boring activity.
Also, I want to give you a little heads up that Fractel just launched their spring collection. I love their running headware and I’m really happy that they sponsor me. And I think I’ll get a Legionnaire Cap for the summer months, which will not just protect me from the sun, but also make me look so fast!
Anyhow, lets dig into Five Things Running!
The Power of Confidence
“Confidence is not a fleeting feeling; it's a muscle that strengthens with each step taken towards a goal. Every successful run, every completed workout, and every achievement, no matter how small, contributes to its growth. Like a ripple effect, confidence spreads its influence across all aspects of training, creating a positive feedback loop that fuels progress.” - a great piece by Tony Green aka
. Every time I’m injured I have to regain my confidence in the first few runs after the injury. All Your Running Etiquette Questions — Answered
Well, not quite. I still want to know why nodding or even greeting other runners is appropriate on some routes, but not on others. How do you do it? And why can’t I just yell at people who walk in the middle of the trail and thereby make it hard for me to pass?
Why the London Loop Is an Urban Trail Running Dream
This sounds awesome. Also, there is a 100km so called “green ring” around Hamburg that is runnable. I think I have to look into that soon.

Just in case a normal ultra is not enough for you anymore, you might want to dig into this. I find this truly amazing and I don’t know how people manage to run that long.
Refueling at the Buc-ee’s Gas Station Marathon
has another great story for you. Make sure to read it! And yes, it is a huge gas station, not a tiny inner city gas station…If you missed last week’s edition, you can read it here:

Danke, Nico!
I wave/nod/say hello to every single runner I see (and that one lady who speed-walks in my neighborhood). I mostly just get the side-eye but I don’t care. It’s my way of saying “It costs you nothing to be polite. WAVE AT YOUR FELLOW RUNNERS GODDAMN IT.” 😁
