Five Things Tech: Webpage, Trends, Suppliers, Abramovich, Israeli Tech
It's time for tech! Read this now.
The tech year has officially started with CES in Las Vegas. Every year it seems to get brighter and louder. I don’t know about you, but I didn’t see anything really spectacular, just gadgets that nobody will be talking about anymore in a few weeks time. Sure, bigger screens are nice and I’m a big fan of weird gadgets, but do we really need a funny little plastic thing with a rabbit to use ChatGPT? I guess not. So I’m a bit underwhelmed by CES, because the big elephant in the room is GenerativeAI. So the ChatPT Store is a huuuge deal which will shake up the industry much more than a little gadget. And remember, half of the profits of OpenAI will be going to Microsoft, which just surpassed Apple as the most valuable company in the world.
Anyhow, thanks for reading Five Things AI. Remember to go paid while the New Year’s discount still is available!
The Perfect Webpage
Every webpage is built based on the same rules. Everybody wants to be found. Now everything looks the same and is build for SEO.
Journalism, media, and technology trends and predictions 2024
Let me put it this way: the outlook for news organization is not getting any better and GenerativeAI certainly does not help. What would help is a desire to innovate, but this goes against the grain of an industry that is still thinking way too much about paper.
How governments become addicted to suppliers like Fujitsu
Fujitsu in the UK is just one example of how bug companies get huge government contracts and deliver something that doesn’t work or doesn’t work at all. Germany also has a long history of this, where big companies develop something outrageously complicated that nobody needs and that also does not work as intended.
How A London-Based VC Quietly Brokered Roman Abramovich’s Startup Investments
What a story. Russian money drove the inflated valuations of many startups and everybody was fine with it. Now everybody acts surprised. Which is no surprise at all.
Can Things Get Even Worse for Israel Tech?
It doesn’t look good for Israeli tech right now, but I am sure that the tech ecosystem is strong and resilient. Israeli tech will rebound quickly.
That’s all for Five Things Tech this week! Remember to go paid now! Really.
