Five Things Tech: Transatlantic Tech War, Data-Center Boom, Mediocre Google, Developer Skills, Microsoft at 50
Everything you should read about Tech right now.
Hello again, and welcome back to Five Things Tech!
The tech landscape will change. Europe is more and more annoyed that it cannot trust the USA anymore (and it could never really trust China either) and it doesn’t look as if Big Tech wants to be part of the solution anytime soon. So Europe will need to figure out how to be less dependent on American and Chinese tech. This will be a good and necessary excercise for the old continent. And it will probably mean that I have to rethink my app usage, which I really don’t want to, as everything kind of works right now and moving email providers and that kind of basic stuff always sucks.
We’ll see. I’m sure we’ll see a European tax on American digital services soon. I’d rather have a huge Western trade block, but the current “thinking” in the USA points to the USA pulling out of international treaties and organizations, which is a huge step back for all of us.
Anyhow, enjoy this edition of Five Things Tech!
