I’m a techno-optimist myself. So I had to read this manifesto by one of the most important and most influential people in tech. Marc Andreesen developed the browser Mosaic that started the web revolution. But this manifesto leaves me a bit speechless. I don’t think technology will be the answer to everything.
Thankfully, somebody took this manifesto apart.
Isn’t that amazing? I still remember when people said that solar is just too expensive and not efficient enough, and now we’ve reached the tipping point and no one is questioning the bright future for solar anymore. With nobody I obviously mean “no one in their right mind” as there are way too many people around who have their own set of facts.
The combination of robotics and AI will have a huge impact on warehouses and logistics. And obviously this will lead to tremendous changes for the workforce in these areas.
Smart thoughts on hype and the connection of tech and design: “But over-accelerated hype-cycles are creating a bubbly and unstable innovation landscape in which meaningful advances are overshadowed, sustainability is sidelined and design approaches that value long-term positive impact are swept aside. It's time to rethink the cycle, and invest time and resources where advances really matter.”
