Five Things Tech: Solar, Taste, AI Startups, Delivery Robot, Planets
It's Saturday and you should read this.
Here we go again!
This time I’m stretching tech all the way from solar to taste to AI startups to delivery robots to discovering life on some planets.
Come along and you’ll find some interesting articles to read on this lovely Saturday!
Enjoy!
Even solar energy’s biggest fans are underestimating it
While I think we need to do so much more to fight climate change, it’s great to see that solar energy is growing so fast.
Taste is Eating Silicon Valley.
“In a world of scarcity, we treasure tools. In a world of abundance, we treasure taste. The barriers to entry are low, competition is fierce, and so much of the focus has shifted — from tech to distribution, and now, to something else too: taste.” - there is so much to it.
AI start-ups generate money faster than past hyped tech companies
“Artificial intelligence start-ups are making revenues more quickly than previous waves of software companies, according to new data that suggests that the transformative technology is also generating strong businesses at an unprecedented rate.” - I guess this AI stuff is going to stay for a while.
A day in the life of an Nvidia-backed food-delivery robot
I remember seeing the Starship Technologies robots out in the street of my office some 8 years ago or so and while I was really curious about what they did, I found the tech really cool, but totally not useful for delivering anything. It will be interesting to see how Serve can spin this into a real business.
The Searchers
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab sounds like a really cool institution with lots of extemely smart people. Let’s see if they’ll find life on some other planet and what we’ll learn from that.
That’s all for now! Thanks for reading! If you missed last week’s Five Things Tech, you can find it here:
