Five Things Tech: New State of Matter, Silicon Valley, Imperfect Systems, Job Openings, Data Bunkers
Everything you should read about Tech right now.
Hello again, and welcome back to Five Things Tech!
This week you’ll learn about a new state of matter that Microsoft has created. I’m really fascinated by quantum computing, but I wasn’t expecting this. Something I was expecting is the amazing speed of development that got sparked by ChatGPT in Silicon Valley. And once again the tech world is looking at what’s going on over in Silicon Valley instead of just getting better at developing and financing radical new technology themselves. We all know the playbook, but Silicon Valley is the only place where they really stick to it. Speaking of imperfect systems, I found an interesting discussion on how the timeline at Bluesky works. Also, did you know that job opening for software engineering roles are at a lowpoint right now, even though we all know that AI calls for increased investments in software engineering right now? Finally, would you stash your data center in a huge underground bunker to protect it from attacks? Is this a bit extreme or a necessary precaution?
