Five Things Tech: Multiverse Theory, Blockchain, Robot Training, Venture Capital, Silicon Valley
This is what you should read right now.
Hello again, and welcome back to Five Things Tech!
This Saturday you’ll get to read about the so called multiverse theory. I think we all need to better understand how this quantum computing thingy works and what it means to solving huge problems. It’s not exactly a device will have in the palm of our hands anytime soon, but it proposes quite a unique set of challenges for the world of computing nonetheless. We should also re-evaluate how we think about blockchain technology. We will see many usecases connected to AI soon to bring in more trust and more ownership. I’m working on something like that for a client right now and it is fascinating how much it makes sense. I didn’t really know how robots are being trained, but this process will change rapidly now thanks to Genisis, an open source software simulation. You should read about it, even if you don’t have a robot to train. The remaining two articles deal with Venture Capital, which is something I’m deeply interested in as I have run two small funds myself. One article deals with the big question of which size and style is right for a VC, and there’s not an easy answer to it. I see a trend towards bigger funds, as the fund managers can spend 2% of the fund volume every year on salaries and expenses, but I think smaller funds serve startup founders better. The fifth article deals with the dominance of technology from the US, something we all have to deal with, for better or worse.
