Five Things Tech: Humanoids, Vibe Coding, Jupiter, Humane Computer, Chrome
Everything you should read about Tech right now.
Hello again, and welcome back to Five Things Tech!
Reality is catching up with the humanoid robot hype: until battery life, safety, and costs get in line, wheeled robots, not bipeds, will lead the way, even though we are fascinated by the idea of robots walking around doing things. Meanwhile, the boom in “vibe coding” has led to VibeCodeFixers.com matching developers to chaotic projects. So you can have big ideas even if you can’t quite code them, but it is not as easy and inexpensive as many people thought. In Germany, supercomputer Jupiter launched, boasting enough Nvidia chips and “green” cred to fuel AI dreams, though it’s tiny next to US data giants. A great Ars Technica piece dives into Jef Raskin’s mission to make computers humane before anyone cared, a journey that echoes in shows like Halt and Catch Fire. And Chrome just turned 17! I was an early convert, but for now I’m all-in on Comet, which is proof that a new browser can totally change how you get things done.
That’s all for this week in Five Things Tech! If you’re interested in vibe coding, please check out Warp now!
Enjoy!
