Five Things Tech: AI Hype, State of AI, Quantum Healthcare, Adtech, Unmoderated Internet
Nothing happened in Tech this week. Just ignore this email.
Just kidding, please read this email. I wrote it just for you.
If you read the articles in this newsletter, you’ll know more about the current hype around AI and the numbers behind it. Also, you will understand why the next hype will be quantum computing. Then we’ll look at adtech and the emissions associated with it. As I started my career as the CTO in online advertising, I can really relate to this topic (and also understand a bit more about it than about quantum). In my CV I usually state that I haven’t been offline since 1995, which is true - and I was happy reading and discussing stuff on the Usenet. Sometimes this was a really weird experience when people got very agitated about weird tech topics. Compared to X, this was pure kindergarten.
If you like Five Things Tech, you'll like NMA Monday Alert - which will be in your inbox this Monday. So go ahead and subscribe this as well if you want to find out what we do at NMA - the premier hub for startup innovation in Europe!
These five articles were curated from all over the web and I think you should dive right in! If you haven’t subscribed yet, please do so now!

Online advertising emits more greenhouse gases than you think
There needs to be more focus on data centers and their emissions. There are so many different entities involved in getting the banner displayed on your screen (that you don’t click), that we really have to think more about what is really necessary to deliver a banner ad and track the resulting user behavior.

This is what an unmoderated internet looks like
is right: content moderation has failed. And I’d like to add: the idiots haven taken over and ruined the internet that I knew and loved. (LINK)
