This is the eight installment of Five Things Running and I’m Nico - I like running and I like to read about running. I also like to share interesting stories from the wonderful world of running and this is why I started Five Things Running.
I really hate being injured and what I hate most about it is this stupid uncertainty. “Can I go running again or should I wait?” - that is the question I ask myself a few times a day. My injury that stopped my marathon after 12km feels much better, thanks to my doctors who gave me two injections into my lower back and prescribed me nice painkillers and muscle relaxants. But every time I think I could go for a nice recovery run, I feel pain again and instead just take a walk.
So in this edition of Five Things Running we take a closer look at Courtney Dauwalter, we find out much how a break in marathon training will set us back during the race, we understand more about apparel, science and the environment, we learn about daily running and its benefits, and finally we find out that people pay $11,000 for an ultra marathon.
Keep on running!

Here’s How Much A Disruption In Your Training Will Affect Your Marathon Finish Time

What Happens to Your Body When You Run Every Day?
Don’t we all like to experiment with this? A 30 day running streak? I’ve tried that before, but I need my rest days. And I hate running just short runs. But the benefits are there and I think it is most important to get into a routine that incorporates a few runs per week. Every week. (Verywell Fit)
A Grueling 120-Mile Run, Butler Included: Ultramarathons Get Fancy
Hmm, although this sounds tempting, the $11,000 price tag let’s me hesitate for a moment. But it is interesting how the ultramarathon scene develops into all sorts of directions, from backyard ultra to an ultra with glamping. (Wall Street Journal)
That’s all for now! I hope your Sunday runs were better than mine!
