Heya and welcome back to Five Things Running!
I’m still not really back to running, but after some research on the interwebs I deided to go see the doc, finally. I hate it when I have some stupid ailment that keeps me from running, but at least it’s always something different.
Have you picked out some cool races for fall, yet? Already 500 people have signed up for the Adventslauf in Ratzeburg and if I were, I’d sign up fast! It’s an amazing race around Lake Ratzeburg here in Northern Germany.
I hope you like the five articles I picked out for your reading pleasure! Please consider getting a paid subscription, I need to buy some new running clothes for fall and I have exquisite taste, which doesn’t come cheap! But you know what? 5€ for Five Things per month is a steal!
Trail running vs. road and treadmill running
You should still read the article, but I prefer running in nature to running on roads or the treadmill. Also, nothing beats coming back inside after a long run in cold, nasty rain. It makes you feel alive. Yes, I’m ready for fall.
How Hoka’s Shoe Whisperer Tweaks Models for its Pro Athletes
This is just wonderful. The co-founder of Hoka still tinkers with the shoes to make the experience better for the athletes. This is on thing that sets Hoka apart from other, older and bigger brands.
The running store balancing community and commerce
I love the intersection of fashion and running. It’s so cool to see new running stores opening everywhere that feature cool new brands. Also, when I visited Edinburgh a few years ago, there was no running store worth going to. On a side note, as somebody who likes to explore running stores while traveling: I’d love to buy cool apparel with some local reference on it, as a souvenir so to speak.
On Running Keeps Winning With Innovation, Collaborations And Team Spirit
To be honest, I was never really interested in On. When the brand started, it had a novel technology, but it was mostly seen as a lifestyle shoe, not a running shoe. This is changing now and makes the brand much more interesting for me.
If you can walk fast, you'll probably run fast: The science of running faster
I usually walk really slow, maybe I should change that.

Now, go running!
