Hi and welcome back to Five Things Running!
Again, no running for me last week. Well, except for almost running 10km, but then 200m before I got home my left hamstring acted up. I did everything by the book to make sure recovery goes well, tried running again today after being without pain for 3 days. Got 50m, then the hamstring started to act up again. So I will sit tight for a few more days. Hrmpf.
What I hate most about running? Not being able to run.

Should trail running be an Olympic sport?
For me the Olympic Games have lost their appeal a long time ago. Adding another niche sport won’t help at all. I know that runners and brands need the attention and the additional sponsoring options, but I’m not sure this will do the sport of running any good.
There’s No Such Thing as Too Much Post-Workout Protein
I’m trying to get a lot of protein in and after I go running I always have a protein shake. Glad to read that this is a good practice, even though I would appreciate it if they could make real tasty protein gummy bears that I could eat instead of drinking a shake…
How I came to love Backyard Ultras
Backyard Ultras are a strange beast. I admire the determination of the runners who run until they cannot run anymore. It’s nothing for me, though. Not a chance. Would you do this?
The era of Shoetubers
I love watching shoe reviews on Youtube and I also devour shoe reviews on blogs. And then I wait until the shoes are out of season and available at a steep discount. I know that this sucks for running stores, but I got so many questionable pieces of advice including “this shoe is nothing for you”, that I really prefer to shop just by myself.
Marathon Spectating Is Becoming a Sport of Its Own
I admire all the people who cheer other people on! Next Sunday I’ll walk 500m to the course of the Hamburg Marathon to do just that, but there are lots of people who take spectating to a whole other level.
That’s all for now!
Thank you for reading Five Things Running. Remember to go paid now! It will make me run with a huge smile!

Now, go running!
