Hello and welcome back to Five Things Running!
I hope your running has been better than mine the last week. I started my #NDO streak 76 days ago but last week I was on the verge of quitting. Somehow the two days of travel totally through me off and were more exhausting than I thought. Running at 4:30 before a flight also was probably not the best idea. I still got a nice run in along the River Isar in Munich, which was nice.
After running more than 80 km the week before, running just 46 km feels like failure. Letβs see how the coming week will evolve.
Have a great start into the week! Happy running! ππ»ββοΈ
Naps, tacos and 11 world records: how Camille Herron ran 560 miles in six days
This is so freaking impressive. While Iβm still unsure about the Further event staged by Lululemon, Iβm in awe by Camille Herronβs performance.
Fueling the Distance: How Protein Can Propel Endurance Athletes Forward
Iβve been increasing my protein intake massively at the beginning of the year and after reading this article I found out Iβve been doing the right thing. As an older runner, I also focus on collagen, which has positive impact for me as well.
A Comprehensive Guide to Periodization for Peak Performance
βPeriodization is a strategic planning approach athletes use to structure their training leading up to a competition or event. It involves breaking down the training process into distinct phases, each with its own focus and objectives. These phases may vary in duration and intensity, allowing athletes to progress toward their performance goals systematically. Despite its complexity, periodization can be tailored to suit the needs of athletes with different lifestyles and commitments. Itβs not just for elites!β - well, I guess I have to look into this a bit more.
Sheβs 12. She runs an under-3-hour marathon. And sheβs prepping for the 2028 Olympics
A few weeks ago I read a story about a teenager running ultra marathons and now thereβs a 12-year-old running marathons at a BQ pace. These kids are outliers and while the performance is impressive, as a father I think that they are a bit too much into endurance training at that age.
#17 finisher Karel Sabbe: From talking to a trash can to making Barkley Marathons history
The Barkley Marathons are truly fascinating and the just released video by Karel Sabbe is a great documentary about the legendary race. A must watch!
Thatβs all for now!
Thank you for reading Five Things Running. Remember to go paid now! It will make me run with a huge smile!
Now, go running!
