Hi and welcome back to Five Things Running! This is my weekly newsletter where I share five interesting articles about the wonderful world of running and also brag a bit about my recent runs.
Before we get to the articles, let me tell you that I ran more than 85 km last week and I feel awesome. I am still on my #NDO running streak since January 1st and I don’t think I’ll stop soon. Right now it feels like my body has found a good rhythm between running and rest.
Anyhow, this Sunday I did my long run to the Müllberg (“trash mountain”) in the North of Hamburg, which used to be a landfill and has been turned into a nature reserve in the 70s. From the little hill I had a nice view of the city and then I ran back.
I still have not planned to join a race this year as it feels pretty good just to run the way it works for me. We’ll see.
Rise of the “Illegal” Running Shoes
It’s not because these shoes might be “illegal”, it’s because they make running more fun for a lot of people. The good thing is, there are plenty of options out there and we can all find the shoes we like. I like max cushioned shoes and if you throw a carbon plate in there as well, even better. Just waiting for the next batch to be released so that I can buy shoes from the current one at a discount.
What are we all running from?
Maybe we are running toward something and not from something? I’d like to put a positive spin on all the people running nowadays.
Community service with Venice Run Club
has been writing about the LA running scene for a year now and I really enjoyed this portrait of the Venice Run Club. It’s amazing how people create community and get runners to run together. Turning Point
When Kilian Jornet appeared on the scene, he changed the sport. What an amazing athlete.
Timeless Trail Runners: Resilience Remastered
“A growing number of masters athletes (older than 35 years) are finding new reasons to keep showing up. Goals and bodies change over time, but so do the rewards and motivations. Getting out on the trail and experiencing the outdoors provides its own special thrill at any age. “
That’s all for now!
Thank you for reading Five Things Running. Remember to go paid now! It will make me run with a huge smile!
Now, go running!
