Hello and welcome back to Five Things Running!
I had an awesome week of running. Did five early morning 6 km runs and then 10km on Saturday and then ran the half-marathon distance on Sunday. So I’m back in the long run game, which is the most wonderful run for me. I ran every day this month, so #ndo works well for me. All the short runs during the week helped me build my base again after being off running for almost three months. I’m also doing kettlebell swings and planks every day, so I really do feel refreshed and full of strength. Oh, and Dry January also helps, I guess.
Also, I found my gloves. Which makes sense as the snow is gone and it is pretty mild outside again. The gloves were in my gear box. I didn‘t know I had one, but my wife did and so now my gloves mystery has been solved. Can‘t wait for the next snow!
How was your running?

Stride by Stride
Zach Miller, who is among the best ultra trail runners out there, pens a wonderful essay of what running means to him. As he is just going full front against the commercialization of the sport and the UTMB organization, it is good to understand where he’s coming from.
Most Supplements Don’t Work. But That’s Not the Worst Part.
Come on, you can admit it: you were reading about supplements before and some sound like a really good idea. I did. When Alex Hutchinson writes about something, I always read it.
GNARLY TALES BREAKING 101
I find backyard ultras both fascinating and totally not interesting for me personally at the same time. Why would you run the same route in circles for as long as you can?
7 Legit Benefits of Running At Night—And How To Do It Safely
I’m a morning person and I always try to get my runs in before the afternoon, so I run in the morning or during my lunchbreak. Sometimes I run in the evening, but that’s very rare. I like running on an empty stomach and the idea of having all that food and coffee to digest while I’m running doesn’t make the idea of an evening run more appealing to me.
Passion for Running in Middle Age
Running is different when you’re older and I’m probably not going to get any faster anymore. And yet, running is awesome, if you just keep doing it.
That’s all for now!
Thank you for reading Five Things Running. Remember to go paid now! It will make me run longer!
Now, go running!
