Let’s start into the week with five really interesting articles about the one thing we all love to do a lot: Running.
So I’m still doing this #nodaysoff streak running thing this January, because I want to get back into the habit of running after basically not running at all in November and December. I ran 50km last week, which is pretty good for a 51-year-old slightly overweight runner like myself. I also went swimming twice last week and swam 2500m, which is mindnumbingly dull, but probably very good for my lower back and my stupid intervertebral disc that keeps annoying me. I was swimming in an outdoor pool in the rain today and got all wet. Sorry for the dad joke. My two youngest kids pretended to find it a bit funny when I told them. Also, I have been doing a plank for a minute every morning so far this year and I already feel better and stronger than ever.
We kind of have winter here in Northern Germany right now with snow and ice and cold wind and all that. And just like last year, I cannot find my good winter running gloves. I think they are from Black Diamond. Really good gloves. I also cannot find my amazing Tracksmith gloves, but I can find one glove of my Nike gloves. The only gloves I have are some really old black gloves with a huge hole at the seam. And just like last year, I will probably find the good running gloves in the summer and think to myself that I will put them somewhere safe so that I can find them in the winter. I do have enough warm winter hats. Am I the only one who doesn’t have enough room for all the running gear?
I still haven’t figured out if I want to run a race this spring and if so, which one I should pick. Have you made up your race schedule yet?
Oh, and one more thing: you can still benefit from the New Year’s discount and go paid! Remember, I need new running shoes, so this is a good cause! 🏃🏻♂️

makes a strong point here. And yes, I currently run every day, so I know that I contradict myself a lot right now. But we do have the tendency to try to do to much and to keep up with the Joneses out there. What If Athletes Treated Pain the Same Way They Treat Fatigue?
“Like fatigue, pain conveys information to the athlete, but it does so in the way of an air-raid siren.” - oftentimes, I’m rather deaf to the sounds of this particular siren, which of course makes things worse.
