Gooooood Morning! The snow and ice have melted and the mercury is rising to 8 degrees again in Northern Germany. Great for running, if you like rain. I do. And yet, I would prefer to run in snow in December. Or run at all, but hopefully I can get back to it real soon now.
How’s your running coming along? Are still trying to reach the desired mileage you punched in on Strava at the beginning of the year? Yeah, me neither.
As Christmas is approaching fast: buy this book: Runhundred! It’s really good, honestly!
Ruth Croft’s Long Way Into Trail Running
The dedication pros like Ruth Croft put into a sport in order to be able to accel in it, always amazes me. Her strategy to basically chase summer sounds very appealing, though.
2024 Running Shoes Preview: What’s Hot and What’s Not
I’m one of those people who like geeking out about the latest trend in running shoe technology. And yet I almost always buy last season’s models, because I really don’t feel like spending so much money on running shoes, knowing that 4% won’t really make a difference for me.
How I Became the “Annoying Running Guy”
“There is nothing more obnoxious than someone who has allowed running to hijack every aspect of their personality, and I am dangerously close to losing myself to the cult. It is up to me—and only me—to pull myself out before it’s too late.” - haha.
Why Running? Why Stoicism?
is asking the big question: why are we running. I run to think and daydream at the same time. A long run gets me mentally refreshed and physically fatigued. Where is The Line Between Athlete and Influencer?
Surprisingly, money plays a role in sports. Oftentimes, I find it totally fine that people get sponsorhips, sometimes I just find it odd that brands want to be associated with a certain influencer. Two decades ago, when we didn’t know the term influencer, I was one of the first bloggers in Germany and it didn’t take long until companies approached me with free stuff for me to blog about. I even got a nice kit from New Balance back when Dailymile.com was still a thing. I have high regards for New Balance ever since. And I’m sure I could develop some sort of affection for other brands if they send me free stuff 😛.
That’s all for now!
Thank you for reading Five Things Running. This post is public so feel free to share it.
Now, go running!
