So I missed lots of beautiful fall days and started running again after almost five weeks of dealing with an annoying cold and and then dealing with COVID-19, which was even more annoying. It felt so great to be finally able to lace up again and run around the park for half an hour. In the rain. It was just awesome. And I realized again how much I missed running.
The last couple of weeks I had the pleasure to read a wonderful new book, which you should pre-order now: Runhundred
Chris Zehetleitner (
) writes about his experience at the oldest and most prestigious ultra trail race in the world, the Western States 100. From the moment I first heard about this race, it landed on my imaginary bucket-list, but Chris actually got to run Western States 100 and wrote a book about it. Runhundred is a fun read that takes you all the way from Olympic Valley to Auburn, California - with all the ups and downs of the race.Make sure to pre-order Runhundred now! Christmas is around the corner and right now some cool bundles with great-looking t-shirts are also available!
How to run 450 miles, according to the backyard ultra world record holder
At the end of the day it boils down to placing one foot after another. Doing this for 450 miles is something beyond my comprehension. Kudos.

How the pandemic (and depression) hooked a new generation of runners
It’s awesome that more and more people take up running and stick with it. I’m pretty sure that I don’t want to run in those huge marathons, it feels just too crowded for me.

Are long runs overrated?
While I understand all the arguments against the long run, I prefer the weekly long run on Sunday morning. I’m exhausted afterwards, but my mind is relaxed. I need a long run to achieve that.

Opportunity in the Monotony
This is an interesting thought. I’m constantly torn between running the routes I know and exploring new routes. The benefits of the known routes are clear, but running the known routes is also a bit boring.
