I’m bummed that I got COVID-19 again, after dealing with this stupid cold for two weeks. It’s a mild version, so it’s not really that bad for me, a lot like the cold, but more headaches and I’m less able to focus.
I don’t want to complain too much, but what really annoys me about getting COVID-19 for the second time: I won’t be able to run my favorite run of the year, the famous Adventslauf in Ratzeburg on December 3rd. I actually have been looking forward to this all year. For German speakers: the organizers of the Adventslauf just published a video with my former biology teacher Wulf Schmidt who created this race 33 years ago.
So much about myself not running, hopefully you get to run through these beautiful fall days!
Is a $500 Marathon Shoe You Can Race In Only Once Worth It?
Honestly, I would really like to try this shoe. At the same time, I think that it is nuts to create a shoe that only lasts for one marathon and its training-cycle.

How Nike Fell Behind in the Innovation Race
I like Nike, it’s an amazing brand with great marketing. I love their simple 2-in-1 running shorts with front pockets and also the Pegasus trail shoes. But most of the shoes and apparel I tried in the last few years rather underdelivered, at least for my choices. The good thing is that there are numerous other brands now that ship great shoes and apparel.

Multi-Day Runners Are Alarmingly Sane
I haven’t done any multi-day races, but I have read some accounts of those runners and yes, they do sound very sane.

How Sally McRae Won the Moab 240 in Her Fourth 200+ Mile Race of the Year
I listened to a podcast with Sally McRae a few months ago and it was really interesting to hear about her training and her way to cope with running these insanely long distances. Respect.

Should You Rotate Your Running Shoes? Benefits & Considerations
I strongly believe in rotating shoes, much to the dismay of my wife who complains about me having too many running shoes. As a matter of fact, my biology teacher, who invented the Adventslauf I so much want to run this year, talked about this concept a lot during class in the early 90s. It’s the only thing I remember from his class…
