Thanks for reading Five Things Running - my name is Nico and I love running. I also happen to read a lot of stuff about running which I do to compensate for not running.
Today I looked at a pair of running shorts and when my wife asked if I wanted to buy them, I said to her: “I have enough running shorts.” - for a brief moment I felt very mature. Maybe I’m just annoyed that I still haven’t found the perfect shorts, yet. Isn’t it amazing that a pair of running shorts is really something complicated to design? I’ve tried so many shorts that looked good and then had the wrong bounce when I put stuff in the pockets, or felt too loose or too tight, or the pockets were too big or too small. So now I have a bunch of shorts in my rotation and they’re okayish, but not perfect by any means. It’ll just be a matter of time until I desperately need to try new running shorts again.

Facing the Elements
I’m always amazed when people do these multi-day FKT attempts. This is a fascinating article about Stefanie Bishop and her attempt to run all 48 peaks in New Hampshire that are higher than 4000 feet in under 4 days and 20 hours.
Nutrition Mistakes That Runners Make
There is some good advice in this list of nutrition mistakes common among runners. But still I’ll be running on an empty stomach in the morning when I just do my daily run.
One Man’s Mission to Make Running Everyone’s Sport
The Slow AF Run Club is a brilliant idea and it shows how inclusive running can be. Rule No. 1 in the free app the club is using: nobody is allowed to talk about weight or weight loss.
I used ChatGPT to find new running shoes, and I’m never going back to Google Search
I’m not that convinced. ChatGPT is good for new impulses and inspiration, but nothing beats trying on a shoe and running a few meters in a running store.
When my running app broke it was a revelation: ‘being better’ is about taking care of yourself
As much as I like tracking all my runs on Strava and getting kudos for them, I see the benefit in just running without any trackers. But did I really run when I don’t get any data to post on Strava? I’m not sure.
That’s all for now! I hope your Sunday runs were better than mine!
