It's time for Five Things!
I just spent two days in Munich and while I write this newsletter sitting at the airport, this year’s Oktoberfest extravaganza begins in the city. For me as a Northerner, this parade of Lederhosen and Dirndl always amazes me. I only spend half a day at Oktoberfest in my life and I have to say that this was plenty for me.
This edition of Five Things deal with not so pleasant topics, I promise I’ll pick something lighter next week. And yes, I do see the contradiction that I write about climate change and will board a plane as well. Our lives are full of these contradictions.
Anyhow, enjoy Five Things!
Earth ‘well outside safe operating space for humanity’, scientists find
I understand that this is not the best news to start into Sunday morning, but we need to understand that we’re really running out of time and options if we don’t move faster on stopping climate change.
For a Trendy Night Out in Paris, How About a Climate Change Workshop?
Education is so important and I like this approach to help people understand the ramifications of climate change. This needs to be a much broader undertaking though, so that more and more people can confront and then educate the climate change deniers. And yes, I do hope that those people will start paying attention soon.
Cities are advertising themselves as ‘climate havens.’ Experts say there’s no such thing
Well. Sorry about even more bad news this morning.
The Missing Escalation in Ukraine
This article examines the way Ukraine and NATO have taken careful steps during the war trying not to escalate too much. I hope this strategy works and I still think the West is acting too slow. There are so many Leopard 1 tanks sitting around on some lots that could be made ready for battle within months, but apparently this is not happening.
Corporate Culture
Is this the real culture war? How is corporate culture changing and what does that mean for workers and their bosses? I’m always fascinated when I work with large corporations and see their distinct culture, for better or worse. What happens when people work from home?
That’s it. Have an amazing Sunday!
