Five Things: Deportations, Delivery, Standstill, Winters, Signs
Welcome back to Five Things! Read this now!
On Friday afternoon more than 50,000 people came together in Hamburg to protest against a xenophobic rightwing populist Nazi party. I’m really proud of my hometown that marked the start of a wave of demonstrations against the AfD. This party is also pro-Putin and wants to turn Germany back into the way it was in the 50s: predominantly white and christian. They have been successful in the polls in various German states and it was long overdue that people showed them that there is no place for a party like this in Germany. Demonstrations against the AfD are taking place all over Germany this weekend in cities big and small.
Read the first article below to understand why people are marching right now.
Unfortunately, I could not attend this demonstration as I was on a business trip in Munich. And this really bugs me. But I’m sure there will be plenty of opportunities to show the AfD that we don’t want them. To quote one of the slogans found on the banners: Hass macht häßlich! - Hate makes you ugly!

Time for Five Things!
Secret plan against Germany
Prominent members of the AfD and other Nazis devised a plan to deport German citizens that they deem not being German enough. We had mass deportations in Germany before, we do not want this again. This is so sick. We need to make sure that the German voters understand that the so called “Alternative für Deutschland” (AfD) is no alternative for anything, it is just a party full of rightwing extremists and outright Nazis.
You Will Miss the Pizza Delivery Driver
This article pretty much nails it. When you order a pizza, you don’t just pay the restaurant anymore, who pays its employees. You also pay middle men who made the restaurant and the delivery drivers depend on their services. Hooray.
Germany, Once a Powerhouse, Is at an Economic ‘Standstill’
This country is so weird. Germany is the third biggest economy in the world, but it’s business leaders always feel helpless and complain that they need more government support while at the same time complaining that taxation is too high in Germany while at the same time generation record revenues.
Why have our winters gotten so weird?
I miss our cold winters here in Northern Germany. And I don’t understand why people don’t want to understand that this is not just weather, it is the climate that is changing drastically.

Sometimes it feels like people have too much time and just think of ways to make life less fun.
That’s it. Have an amazing Sunday! And remember to go paid!
