The Month of January kind of feels like Monday, first it’s kind of slow and feels like it drags on forever and all off a sudden it’s over. Looking back at this month, there were three topics that stood out for me: the Russian war on Ukraine, Climate Change and Creative AI.

The decision of the Western countries to send battle tanks to Ukraine was an important one and will hopefully change the course of the war. And as we all figured out in the last 11 months: Ukraine is really close to central Europe, which means that the war is also being felt here. My youngest daughter now has a friend from Ukraine and continues to pick up new words in Ukraine and learns the alphabet, while her friend learns German at the same time.

Climate Change has become so obvious in the last few years and we feel how it accelerates. And yet I see hope on the horizon as more and more things change for the better, not all, and not at the speed that I hoped for, but there is positive change.

As an investor I have been looking at dozens of Creative AI startups in the last 7 years and I have invested in more than a handful, so I enjoy the current discussion about the possibilities of Creative AI and the ethical ramifications of its widespread usage. In Germany we always discuss the risks first and then are surprised when we find out that other countries were faster in adapting and establishing a market. I see the same thing happening with Creative AI again.
