Five Things Curator's Cut: Girls, Fungus, New Technology at Work, Robert Habeck, Pitmasters
It's the beginning of the month - and here's the special selection for September!
It’s October 3rd, the day of national unity in Germany. It’s our most important national holiday and while I think that other dates would have been better and more emotional than the day the treaty between the two states were signed, I’m really happy that Germany is unified again. I grew up with the border just 10km away and our world ending there. And when I went to Des Moines, Iowa, for a year as an exchange student, the border came down and when I came back everything had changed. This feeling was so amazing and I really hope that we can remember this feeling for a long time. The process of reunification was and is not easy - and it takes longer than we all expected. We cannot value the end of the Eastern bloc high enough and we have to make sure that our Western democracies and our Western liberties will prevail against the aggressors from inside and outside.
