Five Things: Anti-Semitism, War, SEO, Beef, Forgotten at Work
It's Sunday Morning, time for coffee and this newsletter.
Did you read all those articles about COVID-19 staging a comeback this fall? Apparently our immune systems are not as good as they used to be, because we had to wear masks during the pandemic. When I visited the doctor this Monday, because I have been coughing and sneazing for two weeks, she told me I had a flu like many others. Today I did a test and found out that I got COVID-19, again. My wife quickly pointed out my rare talent for getting COVID-19. Others go to large crowds, I do the opposite. Last year I got infected while being on summer vacation at the Swedish Riviera with not many people around, this week I also didn’t really mingle with many people outside my family.
Anyhow, I had some time to read, now that my wife told me to stay away from the family and I duly obliged.
Enjoy these five articles I picked out for you to read this week!
Germany Searches Its Soul on Anti-Semitism
It’s very rare these days that a German politician gives a speech that resonates with millions of people. Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck took to Instagram, X and LinkedIn this week to condemn anti-semitism and to make clear that many leftists should rethink their support for Hamas. These 10 minutes are very powerful, even for non-German speakers, so make sure to watch this video with subtitles.

A World at War
There is too much war in this world right now and the UN is very limited in what it an do. Building peace needs more diplomatic efforts, especially at a time when new blocs emerge.

The people who ruined the internet
I’m old enough to remember a World Wide Web (does anyone use this term anymore) without Search Engine Optimization, which was wonderful. SEO really did a lot of harm, as we can see every day when we look at websites that offer no real value, but display lots of ads.

Why can’t we just quit cows?
It’s not that easy, at least not when we look at the big picture. And I thought if we’d all eat less beef, that would be a step into the right direction. It’s a bit more complicated, I just learned.

My Company Forgot About Me for Two Years, But I Kept Getting Paid
That’s why people join the corporate world, but unfortunately for them, this doesn’t happen too often. And would you really want this?
