Five Things AI: xAI, LLM Business, Book Publishing, Chip Design, LinkedIn Posts
Surprise! This week was another week with lots of AI stuff going on!
Heya and welcome back to Five Things AI!
I don’t know about you, but I have an uneasy feeling when there’s talk about establishing the role of an “AI Czar” in the next US government. I have doubts that this role will lead to a cooperative way forward for the industry, which includes policy talks with EU and China. Somehow, I fear that this guy will mostly benefit Musk and xAI while also removing guardrails and industry standards that were developed in the last few years.
Also, did you see todays another announcement that a new company called /dev/agent has raised a whooping $56 million at a $500 million valuation to build a framework for Agentic AI. The founders have an Android background and came up with the obvious analogy that they would be to the development of Agentic AI what Android was to mobile. We’ll soon find out, but we already see that investments are shifting big time into Agentic AI - and are of course much lower than the billions poured into the big LLM developers. For OpenAI, Anthropic and others the current push for Agentic AI comes at a good time as they need to figure out how to make money in the future by moving away from the prompt into the heart of the processes of an organization.
