This week was dominated by lots of new developments in the world of AI and it is fascinating how fast everything moves in this space. It is truly the beginning of a new era right now: the age of AI.

Friedmann is absolutely on point in this column: “Like so many modern digital technologies based on software and chips, A.I is “dual use” — it can be a tool or a weapon.” I assume it will take a while until we really understand how we can AI use to our advantage - and more importantly, how to regulate it. Why Ted Lasso isn’t the massive hit in the U.K. that it is in the U.S.

Interesting to see a British perspective to Ted Lasso. From a German viewpoint this show is wonderful as it plays with both American and British stereotypes - and among a lot of ridiculous humor there is always some deeper thought that makes you think. I’d like to see Ted Lasso getting hired by a German club for next season. This would offer a whole new set of weird stereotypes, rituals and traditions. (The Athletic)

Job Listings Abound, but Many Are Fake

As the job market changes, companies are still putting out ads looking for people. The reasing behind that seems absurd at first, but does make some sense. Although I’d prefer companies hiring people without letting them wade through hundreds of fake ads. (Wallstreet Journal)

J. Crew and the Paradoxes of Prep

J. Crew is probably the one company that I buy the most clothes from. I have been a big fan of the brand since my senior year in high school when I had the catalogue, but not enough money to order anything from it. J. Crew had its challenges in the last decade, yet it seems as if they found their mojo again with the current season. (New Yorker)

Fear the Wrath of the TikTok Voter

Should the Biden administration block the app the young generation in the USA likes to use most? Would this turn into a backlash at the next election? An interesting challenge for lawmakers who want to get re-elected, especially on the liberal side of the spectrum. (New Republic)
