Five Things AI: Regulation, Risks, TV Ads, Beauty Industry, AI Automation Potential
AI is all the rage right now. Find out why in this newsletter.
Today I went to the AI Summit in Hamburg and listened to a great panel about “The AI Act and the role of AI governance for innovators” - which is really an amazing and important topic to discuss. We’re all trying to make sense of AI and all the possibilities and also the dangers attached to it. And every week we learn something new, it seems. So while we’re trying to figure out what the impact of AI will be, once the dust around the hype has settled, the development of AI continues at a breakneck pace. This is no easy task for lawmakers, especially when the US, China and Europe look at the AI regulations from totally different angles.
Speaking of no easy task: I tried to create an image which should include me and my colleagues at NMA. The output was me and my colleagues morphed into one person. That looked quite interesting, but I think I have to fiddle with the Midjourney prompts a bit more.
The Race to Regulate Artificial Intelligence
Regulating AI is a huge task and we see three distinctly different approaches to it. It will be interesting to see, how the tech-competition between US and China will influence the legislation.
Stop talking about tomorrow’s AI doomsday when AI poses risks today
“Fearmongering narratives about existential risks are not constructive. Serious discussion about actual risks, and action to contain them, are. The sooner humanity establishes its rules of engagement with AI, the sooner we can learn to live in harmony with the technology.”
A.I. and TV Ads Were Made for Each Other
I just love all the creativity that breaks loose right now when people start playing around with GenerativeAI and figure out what they can do now that they couldn’t have done before.
How will AI and Midjourney affect the beauty industry?
“AI will never take complete control of the arts. Instead, it is more likely that AI will become an increasingly used creative tool in many fields, including the arts. The future of AI in the arts will depend on how creators and art professionals choose to use it.”
Ranking Industries by Their Potential for AI Automation
Lots of people will soon wish they had started a career doing some sort of manual labor instead of a nice 9-5 office job. It will be interesting to see how fast job descriptions will change.
