Heya and welcome back to Five Things AI!

This week is all about the wild scale, velocity, and hype that are now woven deep into the world of artificial intelligence. OpenAI’s mind-boggling investment in six mega data centers shows just how much raw power and infrastructure the field now demands - even nuclear-level electricity output to chase Sam Altman’s “intelligence-for-everyone” vision, while the finance world scrambles to catch up, pivoting focus from silicon to grid reliability and clean energy, but knowing that intermittent renewables still won’t cut it for always-on AI workloads. Meanwhile, working with AI feels like consulting with wizards: amazing results drop from the sky, entirely opaque in terms of process - our shift from co-intelligence to magical outputs is only accelerating. VCs are hungrily throwing mountains of cash at AI darlings like OpenAI and Anthropic, chasing supergrowth and betting on upstarts that fuel the next wave, with billions pouring into just a handful of companies. As for the future? No one’s slowing down: creative minds are already dreaming up dozens of fresh AI tools, large and small, that could be built today. If you aren’t rethinking the speed, the scale, or your own approach, you’re already behind.

My startup of the week: Structify.ai
