Five Things AI: Nonsense, s1, Virtual Lab, Microsoft AI Tour, Replit
All you need to read about AI this week.
Heya and welcome back to Five Things AI!
Big Tech is still trying to figure out how to deal with the fallout of the DeepSeek release. It’s kind of interesting to see what’s happening right now. All the big AI companies are still trying to get back their reality distortion field that worked so well in the last two years. All the talk about AGI and how humans will become obsolete - which would happen if gazillions of dollars could be invested into GPUs, datacenters, developers and what not. And then DeepSeek comes around the corner with a model that is a lot cheaper to train, only to be outdone by a new model called s1 which was trained for $50. I think this spring we’ll see plenty of innovation in the AI race. We’ll also see plenty of distractions as the AI companies are trying to figure out how to deal with the competition.
So please read all about what’s going on in AI right now and maybe you have more confidence in Microsofts AI flavor than I do.
