Five Things AI: Jobs, Marketplaces, News Publishers, EU, Strategy
It's Friday. Here's the stuff you shouldn't miss about AI!
Another week where so much happened in AI. Gemini is putting Google back into the AI game, while Elon Musk’s Grok is about as interesting as a huge dumpster fire. Meanwhile the EU is getting some regulation in place and Mistral from France and Essential from San Francisco announced huge rounds of financing. Let’s hope that everything slows down about over Christmas so that we can simultaneously take a breath and also try to catch up on everything that has been happening in the last 12 months.
Oh, and btw, did I mention that I wrote a book about AI? Make sure to order it now!
The book is called Künstliche Intelligenz kompakt: Grundlagen, Chancen und Perspektiven. - and I think it’s a pretty good read.

Navigating the Bumpy Road Ahead: AI and the Lessons from History
Let’s start the AI extravaganza with a discussion of the changing labor market. What do you think will happen? How many jobs will be made obsolete and how many new jobs will be generated and how will that affect productivity?
Marketplaces in the Age of AI
If you have ever stumbled onto etsy just to discover tons of AI generated stuff, you have seen the first wave of change for marketplaces. Fiverr and others are also getting hit by GenerativeAI that can generate new logos and other graphics much quicker and cheaper than someone on Fiverr. What will happen next on marketplaces?
News Publishers See Google’s AI Search Tool as a Traffic-Destroying Nightmare
Well, this is not really a surprise.
E.U. Agrees on Landmark Artificial Intelligence Rules
The EU AI Act is a big deal and as it is being criticized from all different angles, I assume that the agreement could indeed be an acceptable compromise. Not great, but probably not a total deaster, either.
Germany and the EU can’t copycat Silicon Valley’s AI strategy
Steven Hill addresses lots of valid points. In Germany there are so many Silicon this and thats, it’s really frustrating that nobody in charge seems to care enough about the future of tech to come up with a few own ideas.
