So much is happening in AI, find out what matters!
Hi and welcome back to Five Things AI, your one-stop source for the most relevant articles on the development of AI.
It has been almost a year since OpenAI pushed ChatGPT-3 into the spotlight and ignited the tech industry. And yet, it feels like AI has been around since forever. Maybe it’s because we grew up with science-fiction that now slowly (or quickly?) becomes reality. Do we want to be able to talk to animals? Or do we want to leave some areas untouched, do we need areas where we just don’t know?
The development of AI is not stopping anytime soon, regardless of what pundits suggest.

DeepMind’s cofounder: Generative AI is just a phase. What’s next is interactive AI.
This is an interesting interview with one of the people who shape the future of AI. I’m not so convinced about talking to AI, probably because of Siri, but also because I think this is just one option for getting access to AI. Still, the point he’s making about regulation is absolutely right: the nation-states need to get moving on it, because it will take too long to some sort of global regulation in place.
Google DeepMind's AI Tool Could Pinpoint Our Genetic Faults
“There’s been plenty of worrying about the damage AI could do, but discoveries like these show how AI can accelerate progress on the most vexing questions about human biology and health — and motivate scientists to keep pushing to see what the machines can help us do better next.”
Will it be possible to regulate artificial intelligence?
It’s fascinating how many people are calling for regulation now - and at the same time we all learn more about AI and the near impossible task to regulate it in a way that is really meaningful. This debate will intensify in the next months and years ahead.
Artificial Intelligence Could Finally Let Us Talk with Animals
Do I really want to be able to talk to our dog? This is really amazing stuff, but I also don’t mind if some sci-fi just stays sci-fi for now.
Artificial intelligence: A love story
Is this sad? Or wonderful? Or a little bit of both? You decide.
