Five Things AI: Health, Physics, Transformation, Robots, Science Search Engines
The summer of AI is heating up. Read more about it now.
If you ever thought about the right time to finally dig deeper into AI, I can assure you that that time was years ago, when all the foundation was laid. I remember how people thought about AI as some sort of useless gimmick back then. We started doing AI investments 8 years ago and our fund investors were not overly thrilled about that idea. Now we live in a time where new releases in AI happen almost on a weekly basis, but will have impact for years to come. Take for example Meta’s new AI model for Music. This sounds (haha, pun intended) so cool, when you can just have your own AI powered synthesizer to create music. Just think for a minute what this will mean for the music industry. What we be the role of producers or of studio musicians? How will this change music labels? The industry has just kind of gotten used to the changes that happened with Napster and MP3 some 20 years ago and now the next big wave is coming, this time powered by AI.
This is a really exciting time right now, so enjoy Five Things AI!

‘Oppenheimer’ is a must-watch for everyone who works in AI and health care
“Learning from historical misjudgments can provide the guidance needed for designing the next steps. Anyone who wants to innovate in AI for health care should watch “Oppenheimer” and take notes.”
Roll over Oppenheimer: a new AI trained on the laws of physics could unlock the universe
“Could such an AI model — with access to every known physics equation — end up improving our understanding of the universe, and even come up with a unifying theory to succeed Einstein’s theory of relativity?”
AI Has Finally Become Transformative
“For generative AI to remake our economies and lives to the same degree does assume a continued pace of innovation, but many experts believe we’re very likely to see continued progress. There might be growing pains like the Hollywood strikes along the way, but the end result is more jobs, more economic expansion and better goods for consumers. This was the case with the microchip and the internet, and it will be with generative AI, too.” - says Martin Casado, GP at a16z.
DeepMind’s ChatGPT-Like Brain for Robots Lets Them Learn From the Internet
This is really fascinating. I had an article about this last week, but I just can’t get enough about this combination of GenerativeAI and Robotics.
ChatGPT-like AIs are coming to major science search engines
And when I tell my kids that when I went to university 30 years ago, I had to use index cards and microfiche to find scientific papers, they look at me and wonder whether I’m joking or just grew up like some barbarian.
