The AI Revolution: How Predictive, Prescriptive, And Generative AI Are Reshaping our World
“In this AI-powered future, those who can effectively leverage these technologies – understanding their strengths, limitations, and interplay – will be best positioned to thrive. So, whether you're a business leader, a healthcare professional, or simply a curious individual, now is the time to familiarize yourself with these AI powerhouses. The future is here, and it's being shaped by predictive, prescriptive, and generative AI.” - the trifecta of AI.
Terence Tao, mathematician: ‘It’s not good for something as important as AI to be a monopoly held by one or two companies’
“All modern AI systems are based on huge amounts of data. If you want to teach an AI what a glass of water looks like, they need millions of examples of images of a glass of water. If I pour a glass of water and show it to you, you say, “Okay, I get it.” There needs to be a breakthrough in teaching AIs to learn from very small amounts of data. And we don’t know how to do this at all. If we can figure it out, then maybe AI can become as good as humans at really creative tasks.” - really interesting interview.
OpenAI Unveils Secret Meta Prompt—And It’s Very Different From Anthropic's
“The meta-prompt (a prompt optimizer) and system prompt (a model conditioner) operate behind the scenes, issuing detailed instructions that dictate how the AI should behave throughout an interaction. When users initiate a conversation, the meta-prompt has already set the stage, guiding the AI on everything from understanding the main objective of a task to structuring its output. This includes specifics such as preserving the user’s original content, offering concise improvements when necessary, and ensuring that the AI follows clear reasoning steps before presenting a conclusion.”
The AI Boom Has an Expiration Date
“Altman, Amodei, Hassabis, and other tech executives are fond of lauding the so-called AI scaling laws, referencing the belief that feeding AI programs more data, more computer chips, and more electricity will make them better. What that really entails, of course, is pumping their chatbots with more money—which means that enormous expenditures, absurd projected energy demands, and high losses might really be a badge of honor. In this tautology, the act of spending is proof that the spending is justified.” - so, all hype, no substance? I don’t think so.
Casio thinks an AI-powered furball can replace your pet
20 years or so I had a Sony AIBO robodog, which was kind of novel and cute. I’m not so sure that people will get too much out of the Moflin, which supposedly resembles some cute furball. Hopefully, the AI does more than a simple tamagotchi…
