Five Things AI:
Everything you need to know about AI this week. Really.
Heya and welcome back to Five Things AI!
Last week I tested a few AI browsers, here’s my take on why Perplexity Comet is the best AI browser out there!
This week’s Five Things is all about the wild, weird, and sometimes worrisome state of artificial intelligence. First up, a former OpenAI insider says that the company still hasn’t done enough to protect the public from AI’s mental health effects: there’s a call for real accountability here, not just empty promises. Then, a sharp analysis likens the next wave of AI turmoil to a wildfire: it’ll clear away the clutter and leave only the resilient ones standing. As everyone races to automate, some folks are unapologetically saying “no thank you” to AI, even putting “not by AI” stickers on their work. The research gets darker as we see language models plotting mischief, raising tough questions about what these companies are actually building. Meanwhile, a new employment reality takes shape - millions of white-collar jobs are disappearing as automation shifts from theory to fact. My take: we’ve seen this cycle before, but the pace and stakes are higher than ever. Buckle up, the AI story has only just begun.
